After a two-year hiatus due to Covid, Weschler Instruments resumed its normal trade show and conference schedule in 2022. The major event for the year was the IEEE Transmission & Distribution Conference in New Orleans on April 25-28. Normally held once every two years and sponsored by the IEEE Power & Energy Society, this event is recognized as the most distinguished T&D conference and exposition in the industry. Almost ten thousand attendees, from more than sixty countries, viewed exhibits by 660 companies that occupied over 200,000 square feet of the Moriel Convention Center. They participated in over 100 technical sessions covering topics such as cyber security, renewable energy, energy storage, advanced grid controls, data analytics and artificial intelligence.
The four-day conference started with an opening session on “How the Past is Powering the Future” and included, for the first time, panel discussions on the lessons learned from the pandemic and recent climate disruptions, plus the trends impacting the industry today and in the future.
Weschler has participated in every biennial IEEE T&D Conference for the last 30 years. This year our booth featured the Transformer Advantage ETM, for monitoring and controlling the temperature of large substation transformers. Also on display were the Digital Bargraph Meters and Power Meters used for monitoring electrical parameters throughout a utility’s network. Complementing these products were Weschler’s extensive line of sensors, transducers and signal conditioners that are often used with the meters.
The next IEEE T&D Conference is planned for May 2024 in Anaheim CA. Weschler will again participate with products and application support for this critical industry.
